Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city lights
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close; I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
I had to listen; had no choice
I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom - peter gabriel

gray contenders

If we were to go to the cave where Anya hid, we'd have to fly. But I wasn't in the mood. The winds were picking up and my fingers were so fridged I could hardly write. We were staying put on the ground, but there was no choice but to move on.

"Maybe he isn't coming back," Axel said wrapping Angeline in a warmer blanket for our ride onward. We hardly had enough food for another day as it was. "Maybe he's afraid he didn't convince you."

"There's nothing to be afraid of." It muttled in my head that this life of mine wasn't as black and white as I'd thought. So much gray to contend with.

"He just has more important things in his life, like a stinky old dragon. Can you believe he's in love with her?"

"Is that jealousy I hear?"

"No, its not. Its just what am I supposed to do? Who am I really fighting for?" I hated packing up to leave just as much as setting up camp somewhere else.

"You know it isn't written in stone. Life changes from one instant to another. But one thing is for sure, you have to put out as many fires as your brother starts. And we know where his power comes from. We know what he is."

"But what really came first, Axel? What really happened first? The Dragons or the Vampires?"

"I think it all started out as an evil larve that mutated." He shrugged.

"Yes, I suspected evil had something to do with it."
