Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city lights
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close; I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
I had to listen; had no choice
I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom - peter gabriel

"You were only waiting for this moment to arise"

When I awoke, there was a dew in the dale. The skies never looked better. And when I breathe now I don't feel the need to cough. It must have worked.

Yet, I don't feel quite myself. I haven't felt that way in so long. Even when it was a strain just to getogether back for supper, everyone had other things on their mind. They knew the end was near. But father left. Then the brothers traveled across the sea. It was Mother and I. I thought we would have spent time together. Only she'd sent me into hiding, and I watched her like a mere commoner. Now I don't know what I am.

I've changed.

"No to me," Axel said once I was up and about while he was dishing up the porridge. "You need to eat if you intend to be strong."

"For what?" The porridge was green and ugly, but it smelled sweet.

"What we must do?"

He has a plan? Its a lot to go into now. But it has something to do with a special sword. A sword like no other sword.

"We'll need it if we want to kill the dragon."

The dragon. I hadn't thought of that miserable creature in ..well, it seemed like ages now. All snarly, stinky and scaley.

"We have to?" A vacation seemed more in order. Not going back.

"I never thought I'd hear someone with real witch's blood ever say such nonsense. Its part of your duty, you know." He must have eaten three bowls of that gunk and I'd hardly gagged down a spoonful of the sickening sweet soup.

"My duty?" Had I missed something.

"You know, slaying dragons and such."

"And such?"

"The dark creatures of the night."

Training starts immediately.
