Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city lights
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close; I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
I had to listen; had no choice
I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom - peter gabriel

chalice

I remember how she never let me out of her sight. She was always there. Close by. Not like other women of her standing. She knew her real place. vase, vessel, jar, chalice, mother. She was all of those.

Why can't it still be that way?

I knew things could last so long. We knew it was coming. The war in the south. Tribes. All kinds binding together for different causes everyday. She said it was complicated. Even she couldn't understand men sometimes. But then the wizard secretly had it in for all our blood and conjured up the dragon that we thought was put to rest long ago by the fairies when they were warriors. There isn't much of them now. They to went to find their own place. We were left on our own and the wizard had the book of spells now that were put under lock in key by warriors of some ancient time. I can't even recall who they even were. No pictures to go on. Just they too had helped us at one time to restore some order to the world. The world that was a lot darker than I even knew. Mother always said many things plagued us other than bad water and pox. It still left me in a restless sleep. I almost lost my balance and fell out of the tree.

Still my stomach hungered. I would have to hunt, after all.
